Leopard has received a lot of editorial love and fashionista attention for the past six weeks or so, and the trend is only going to pick up more steam as fall rolls in and cold-weather trends take over our sartorial existences. Even with all the tongue-wagging that has been done over the print, a lot of women I hear from still don’t really know how to work it into their wardrobes in bag form.

But it’s easy, really. Choose leopard print in the type of bag that’s going to be used when you’re unlikely to be wearing other patterns or clashing colors – a clutch! The Rebecca Minkoff Leopard Print Fling Minaudiere, for instance.

As a child of the 80s, I have a very distinct love for all the 80s nostalgia that’s been going around for the past few years. I’m almost ready to move on to the 90s (Plaid! Doc Martens! YAY!), but not before I indulge in the 80s glory of the Rebecca Minkoff Rapture Tote.

This bag’s look is appropriately late-80s for these transitional trend times, and the stitching and zippers remind me of a leather jacket that a not-particularly-edgy pop star or a character from Weird Science might have worn at the time in order to look cool. I know that sounds like a bad thing, but I don’t think it is – it’s just a very 80s thing.

The more Rebecca Minkoff bags I see with these great geometric buckles, the more I like them. I wasn’t so sure when they first started to grace the brand’s bags, but the look has grown on me very steadily over the past couple of months. And it’s a good thing, too – if the Rebecca Minkoff Main Squeeze Clutch is any indication, they’re not going away any time soon.

Like the brand’s successful line of Morning After clutches, this bag is big enough for day or night and comes with a leather and chain strap if you’re not feeling too fancy for that sort of convenience. What’s not to like?

I’d like to share with you all my current bag obsession and bag that I personally can not put down. We have talked about the Rebecca Minkoff Rocker before. Well, the exact Rocker Amanda covered I own. And I never gave it much love until the past three weeks. Let me tell you something, I literally can not put it down.

Click to find out why the Rocker Rocks!

We cover a handful of brands on PurseBlog Savvy that are real lightening rods among our readers. The most obvious of these brands would be Coach – the posts on their bags always get a lot of attention because half the people are excited that we wrote about them and the other half have showed up to complain that we gave them the time of day in the first place.

Increasingly, Rebecca Minkoff is one of those brands as well. Some people love to read and comment about them, others are sure that we’re getting paid to write about Minkoff’s bags (let’s dispel that myth right now – we’re not). Because I’m clearly in the mood to ignite controversy this week, however, let’s talk about another of Minkoff’s bags – the Rebecca Minkoff True Love Hobo.

If there’s something I’m a fan of, it’s oversized clutches. I don’t own one, but I still appreciate them, and this Rebecca Minkoff Eyelet Clutch certainly personifies the unique qualities that I’d look for in a big clutch.

Signature Rebecca Minkoff hardware? Check. Detachable chain strap? Check. And finally, it has cute little metal feet. I’m a sucker for those. The soft peach color provides a nice contrast to the silver hardware, making the combination the perfect marriage of girly and slightly rocker. Tea party toughness, if you will.

You may have noticed that I was a little MIA (missing in action) last week. I spent most of the week driving from the West Coast to the East Coast. For those of you who have never experience a cross-country drive, it was a long one. My brother flew out to California and did the drive with me, which made it much more exciting. But leading up to the drive itself, I did a complete top to bottom cleaning of my apartment which included assessing all of my belongings. So as you can imagine I got caught up on my handbag collection.

While going through all of my bags, I was once again reminded about my lack of cross-body bags or even good/new shoulder bags. I do have several shoulder bags, but I think it is time for me to diversify my collection a bit. No reason not to, right?

I had heard that with the advent of her new, higher-priced line for Saks, the prices of Rebecca Minkoff‘s regular line would see a bit of a decrease. Because I’m always dubious at the promise of falling prices, I figured I’d believe it when I saw it.

Well, I might be seeing it right now, and I like what I see. The Rebecca Minkoff Double Buckle Mini Bag is, first of all, not all that mini. It’s a good size and shape, plus it’s on-trend and has nice details. If I had to guess, I’d guess that Minkoff would have priced a bag like this at $395, since that seems to be in line with the pricing of some of her more elaborate crossbody bags of a similar size. But that guess would be wrong.

Wednesday night, I went to Kelly Cutrone’s book signing at a Border’s in Atlanta (I’ll have a full post about that on Monday at PurseBlog), and, predictably, there were a lot of interesting looks going on among the over 700 people that turned up to hear Cutrone answer questions and get a moment of face time with her. One girl in particular stuck out to me, and it all started because she was carrying the Rebecca Minkoff Loveletter Leopard Morning After Mini Satchel.

In this picture, admittedly, the bag does not look all that great. It might even look a bit cheap here (and even in real life, I still thought the brushed gold hardware looked surprisingly down-market), but it was a million times better on this girl’s arm and with the outfit she chose than in any photos I’ve seen. Sometimes in the realm of accessories, a bag’s context can make a world of difference.

It is no shock that I’m a Rebecca Minkoff fan. In fact, looking back on past RM posts I’ve written, almost all of them are positive. I’ve recently been obsessing over the Easy Rider Date Clutch. I mean, I’ve been obsessing over it so much that I am shocked that I haven’t bought it yet. Perhaps that is something I should put on my “to-do list”. For those of you who liked that clutch but are in the market for something a bit bigger, Rebecca Minkoff has something for you.
