Beckon Plisse Shopper

Beckon Plisse ShopperWhen I first saw the Beckon Plisse Shopper on Nordstrom’s website, I kept right on going. It looked like nothing more than a fabric sack with some rolled handles, and for almost $200 from an unknown designer, I didn’t think that that was worth a second look. But sometimes it’s hard to find so many notable handbags to write about per day, so today, I clicked on it. And I was surprised to find out that the bag is ALL LEATHER. That’s right, all that super-intricate pleating is leather, not silk or satin like I figured. So that makes it interesting in ways for which I was not entirely prepared, don’t you think? Leather is not a material that makes tight pleating easy, and whoever this Beckon brand is has managed to do it quite well, and for a reasonable price. I’d be very, very interested to see this bag in person to see what the leather is like when it’s been worked like that. At any rate, I’d encourage all of you guys to click through and play around with Nordstrom’s zoom feature, it’s worth the 30 seconds out of your day to see it up close. Buy through Nordstrom for $178.

I saw this bag in person and was very impressed. It is soft and light weight and nicely lined. I didn’t buy it because I was not familiar with the brand. I kept thinking about it, went on line to Nordstrom’s.com and put it in my shopping cart. It came in very interesting colors, and really stood out in a sea of more expensive bags.
