The studded line from Alexander Wang is the most anticipated line of handbags that I can remember since the heyday of the It Bag several years back. Mary-Kate (or was it Ashley?) Olsen showed up around town wearing the line’s satchel a few months ago, and fahionistas everywhere clammered to know who made it and where they could get it. Well, the answer was that they couldn’t get it, and that they’d all have to wait. The line has since inspired wait lists and hype that we haven’t seen in a while, and it makes this bag veteran smile to see it again.
And while we haven’t been able to locate online the satchel that the Olsens made famous, we DO have the Alexander Wang Hilary Large Tote, which I like even better. The widely spaced, nontraditional studs give this bag a totally different, industrial look when compared to your average studded bag by a lesser designer, and Wang continues his tradition of making oddly fabulous purses that I like despite not totally understanding why. He’s one of the most exciting new designers out there, and I can’t wait to see more from his fall line. Buy through ShopBop for $890.
Amanda, Barneys has the Coco Duffel (gold studs on bottom) for sale online now. Mick Margo did as well, but I believe it sold out through them…

Amanda, can’t wait for you to write about the duffel. As for this bag, it doesn’t work for me style-wise. I’m still excited to see more of this line, though.
Amanda, it wasn’t on the Barneys co-op site, but regular site (Main Floor Bags) and I just checked and it no longer seems to be available. As you probably know, I would keep checking because sometimes the Barney’s site is flaky…
That’s weird that it was with their Main Floor bags, they list their Alexander Wang bags under COOP normally. Oh well, I’ll keep checking both! I WILL find it!
The COCO duffel is gorgeous but considered more for a younger girl considering the amount of studwork on the bottom. I think the day of the ‘IT’ bag is over, but it certainly caused some heavy panting. The rest of his amazing Fall collection is up for grabs and I have not seen a Fall collection that has so many desirable pieces. I ordered the ENIKO and JESS Pleated shopper and cannot wait to receive them! His leathers are gorgeous, well made and understated, which will always be fashionable.

Black is key for the Fall, and AW simply does it the best.
Its kind of a mix of a hippie shape and a rock colour with the studs. Neat.

it was available online at barney’s co-op, but sold out instantly, it’s available for pre-order at satine, and it will show up at a major online retailer in the AM! it’s hard to find, but not impossible LOL
