So, let’s start with the obvious: when I saw the Jas MB Medium Curve Handle Bag, my first thought was, “Woah, Foley + Corinna have changed up their City Tote a bit!” This is obviously not true – their city tote is still as it always has been, and Jas MB just seem to be very ardent admirers of it. So much so that they’ve made an homage to it (and that’s putting it lightly). Yeah, so, it’s kind of a ripoff – it has a long strap to make a fold-over shoulder bag and everything. But I can’t help but think that I actually might like it better than the F+C original, despite the fact that it’s basically the same bag. I really feel like the curved handles give it something – a bit of an architectural element that’s not present in the City Tote, perhaps. A counterpoint to the predictable slouchiness. I don’t want to like it because it seems so similar, but yet, part of me does. Buy through Barney’s for $425.
i just saw this at barneys coop and immediately thought of it as an ‘upgrade’ to the f+c city tote. it DOES feel a LOT better made – the leather is really supple and substantial, and the curve handles add a bit of heft to the overall design. it’s a really nice bag!
