Ladies and gentlemen, it is official, Tory Burch really CAN produce some fabulous bags without her logo splashed all over it. Like most of you out there, I’ve become accustom to recognizing a Tory Burch bag from miles away due to the logo. This is all fine and good, but it really began to wear on my nerves. Then, I came across this beauty!

Tory Burch Amanda Mini Bag

I’ll be honest with you: first and foremost, I chose to write about the Tory Burch Amanda Mini Bag because I share a name with it. I tend to always dislike things that are also “Amanda,” but I quite like this one, and when you’re charged with finding eight handbags per day to write about, well, that’s reason enough.

But upon further examination, my favorite part isn’t that the bag and I have the same name – it’s that instead of the usual gold hardware, Tory Burch chose to use a beautiful dark silver tone.

Alright folks, if you don’t know this by now, I have to fill you in on a little secret, and if you do know, sorry for the repetition. I am obsessed with the Rachel Zoe Project on Bravo. I could go on and on about said obsession for the show as well as so many others on Bravo, but I will spare you. I record all of the Rachel Zoe Project episodes and watch them over and over again. Recently Rachel was talking about her love for all things metallic and I have to say I am totally with her on that, as long as it is done right.

Fashion Week Spring 2010: Tory Burch

Tory Burch 2The buzz around the internet is that Tory Burch’s Spring 2010 collection may save fashion retailing as we know it. Even my dad sent me a link to a New York Times article about it, and he’s not the normal audience for Fashion Week retail gossip. That’s high praise, but upon review, I can’t entirely disagree.

Put very simply, Tory Burch makes very attractive clothes that a variety of women would want to wear, and she makes them at prices that are attainable for a retail audience that most people showing at Bryant Park would rather ignore. Perhaps that’s why her young brand continues to prosper while others struggle to make it out of the red; the fact that she makes things that I want to rip off of a model and wear tonight can’t hurt, either.

Take a look at that little sequin ditty over there. It’s adorable with the skirt, but would probably be equally adorable with black skinny jeans, gladiator heels, and a boyfriend blazer. I would wear that today. I want it for this weekend. Does it come in any other colors? The great thing is, there are so many other pieces in this collection that I have the exact same feelings about. Burch continues to mature and evolve as a designer, and as she does, her collections are only getting better and better.

What she does so masterfully is take basics and give them a note of glitz and glam that appeals to a huge subset of customers that might be willing to splurge a little bit in order to have something special for themselves, as well as those for which the clothes are well within reach. Even if you’re not a fan of Burch’s overall aesthetic, I’m sure you can look through these pictures and find at least one or two pieces that you’d like to have in your wardrobe, and I can’t say that about many of the other shows I’ve perused this week.

Tory Burch Military Studded Leather Satchel

Now, this is a lovely satchel. While all handbags can definitely be hit or miss, I sometimes have a harder time with satchels because designers take them all over the place – borderline hobo, borderline tote and even borderline combination of the two. Yet, here, Tory Burch was able to capture the essence of what a simple yet elegant satchel should look like. The bag might seem a little minimalistic, but sometimes that is just what you need.

Tory Burch Courtney Mini Bag

The current trends in the fashion world are really obvious. Punk and industrial are the words on everyone’s lips, I’ve almost run out of things to say about matte black leather bags, and suddenly Bloomingdale’s is carrying Doc Martens. Late 70s and 80s references are everywhere.

So what do you do if those things really don’t jibe with your personal style? What if you need or want something a bit more conservative, but still on-trend and chic? You buy the Tory Burch Courtney Mini Bag, obviously.

Tory Burch Photoshop Fail

The fall line of Tory Burch handbags, shoes, clothing, and accessories has hit Saks this week. Problem is not with the goods, as I am seriously crushing on most everything, but the image Saks came up with.

Tory Burch Nashe Messenger Bag

First of all, I have Anna to thank for my new found appreciation of messenger bags. Honestly, before she started working with us, I just really wasn’t a fan. Maybe this was because messenger bags just never really did anything for me. And perhaps I wrote them off a while back and never moved along as designs changed and improved.

Tory Burch Nashe Messenger Bag

Today is Monday, and since it is the beginning of the week, what better time to start-a-new than now? It is pretty simple folks, I am a fan of the Tory Burch Nashe Messenger Bag. This folded canvas messenger bag might look a bit ordinary if it wasn’t for the logo medallion, leather banding, wooden disc and leopard-print enamel which surrounds the medallion. Typically, I would say a white messenger bag might get too dirty too soon, but this is one I might take extra good care of, sling over my shoulder and sport it proudly. Buy through Shopbop for $395.

I almost feel a sense of pride when I see a Tory Burch bag that I like. We’ve been covering the brand since they first started making bags, and things haven’t always gone smoothly – the logos were too big, the shapes often didn’t work. But now, Ms. Burch has got her handbag act together, as she continues to prove. The Tory Burch Studded Messenger Bag is just further evidence of what we already know.

Tory Burch Studded Messenger Bag

Gone are the heavy logos and patterns of Burch bags past. What we’ve got here is sleek and clean but with enough signature details to make it cohesive with the brand’s design ideology. Shiny gold hardware is something that you find a lot more in this brand than in others, and although it’s unexpected with distressed army-green leather, it sort of works when you learn who made it. The design successfully melds two styles while making an on-trend crossbody bag for the boho chic crowd, and it does all of that for a very reasonable price. Our little handbag designer is growing up! Buy through Bloomingdale’s for $475.

I love surprises. I really do. I love planning surprises and having surprises planned for me. The element of surprise always results in a reaction (good or bad). Today my friends, I was totally hit with an element of surprise when I came across this bag. There is no way that I would have ever guessed it was a Tory Burch handbag. Would you have?

Tory Burch Studded Satchel

Well, the Tory Burch Studded Satchel is a welcomed surprise. This black leather satchel is adorned with front and back gold pyramid stud detailing. I love the double rolled handles and while I personally wouldn’t use the detachable shoulder strap, it is an option. It makes me a happy handbag aficionado when I see designers give something new a try. So, Tory, if you are listening, keep up the good work – you are branching out wonderfully! Buy through ShopBop for $595.
