Alright, seeing as though it is November, I am actually confused as to why the Kate Spade Bow Tote is being offered over at Saks. It doesn’t take a handbag guru to look at this bag and realize that it does not fit into the season at hand. However, I am going to try and move on from how out of place this bag seems during this time of the year and actually just focus on the bag itself.
Marc by Marc Jacobs Pretty Nylon Vanity Case
November 9th, 2009 / Posted in Marc by Marc Jacobs, Under $200 by Amanda Mull. When I was little, my mom had a mint green leather vanity case that she would always use every time we went on vacation, and I remember being totally jealous of it. Not that it was particularly spectacular (I was born in the mid 80s and I think that particular set of luggage was a holdover from the late 70s, based on the color) or that I had anything to put in it at that age – it just seemed like the sort of thing that big girls had for all of their big girl beauty needs.
Fast forward a couple of decades, and I have plenty of beauty products that need a home when I travel and absolutely zero adorable pieces of luggage in which to put them. So maybe the Marc by Marc Jacobs Pretty Nylon Vanity Case is my childhood dream come true?
Dooney & Bourke Kristen Large Leather Tote
November 6th, 2009 / Posted in $200 - $399, Dooney & Bourke by Shannon. As often as we try and scour the internet and department store universe to find the best and most unique handbags out there, I really like when I come across a bag that is simple, streamlined and well executed. I know there will be plenty of you who think this bag is far too boring, but sometimes it is nice to have a bag that does its job, looks great and doesn’t send your bank account into a downward spiral.
I love a good winter white. I’m from the South and there are still fairly strict taboos here against wear white after Labor Day, but those rules seem so completely old fashioned in the face of beautiful, creamy winter whites, such as the stylish-yet-functional CC Skye Kate Hobo.
I have a personal bias towards bags with this shape and structure, but this looks like just the sort of thing to add some much-needed neutral contrast to a dark winter wardrobe.
At first, I was really excited when I initially saw the LeSportsac Pop Shopper. I thought, how wonderful! A bag that folds up super tiny that you can throw in your regular bag and pull out if you get caught in the rain or if you make an impromptu trip to the grocery to grab a few things and don’t want to waste a plastic bag!
But, upon further examination, that’s not exactly the case. It’s just a nylon bag that comes with a little pouch. Anyone else a bit disappointed?
Sigh. I really, really, really wish this image was a bit better. The Treesje Hendrix Shoulder Bag is actually a fabulous bag but the image doesn’t do it enough justice. But, let’s try and forget the image itself and let’s just focus on the bag. First and foremost, I love the color of the bag. The polished wine colored leather looks fabulous on this shoulder bag. However, I do have a question as to why Treesje decided to call this a shoulder bag.
Linea Pelle Dylan Large Speedy
November 5th, 2009 / Posted in $400 - $599, Linea Pelle by Amanda Mull. It’s not like I’ve never seen the Linea Pelle Dylan line before. I have. The collection has been popular and widely appreciated for some time now, but it never really made me go “OMG AMANDA WANT” like some other bags.
Slowly, though, the love for these bags has been creeping up on me. I’ve found myself to be quite a fan of the hobo, and now I think I’m also in love with the Linea Pelle Dylan Large Speedy.
Rebecca Minkoff Love Letters Shoulder Bag
November 5th, 2009 / Posted in $400 - $599, Rebecca Minkoff by Amanda Mull. From time to time, I see a Rebecca Minkoff bag that I’m not totally fond of, but it’s a rare thing. And indeed, today is not one of those times.
The Rebecca Minkoff Love Letters Shoulder Bag is functional, on trend, and completely appealing. It must be a fairly daunting task for a fairly young designer to be expected to come up with new shapes and ideas for every season with a fairly rabid following salivating over what may come next, but Ms. Minkoff has pulled it off once again.
Bulga Hamilton Studded Leather Flap Tote
November 4th, 2009 / Posted in $600 - $799, Bulga by Shannon.Alright, help me out folks, it is time to weigh in on a bag that I just can’t seem to wrap my head around. I found myself totally and utterly confused when I came across the Bulga Hamilton Studded Leather Flap Tote. There are aspects I can appreciate and then others that I think totally miss the mark.
Marc By Marc Jacobs Miss Marc Coin Purse
November 3rd, 2009 / Posted in Marc by Marc Jacobs, Under $200 by Anna Cooperberg Gonzalez. Here’s the thing. A while ago, when the Marc By Marc Jacobs Miss Marc tee shirts came out, I was totally against them. You could even say I was creeped out. A Nighmare-Before-Christmas-esque girl smack dab in the middle of my shirt? No thanks. But my sentiments towards Miss Marc promptly changed when I spotted this Marc By Marc Jacobs Miss Marc Coin Purse.
You see, I carry a lot of pens and pencils and colored pencils (really, who knows when I might need them) with me, that student’s curse. I’m therefore always on the lookout for fun pen pouch to throw in my bag so that I don’t get pen marks on my bag’s lining. And this little purse certainly fits the bill. It’s certainly the right size for my writing utensils, and the fun design ensures that it’ll be found even in a black-lined bag.
