If there’s something that I consistently love, it’s a big metallic clutch. Clutches are reasonably priced and therefore less guilt-inducing to buy, and a metallic clutch in particular is glamorous and versatile in a way that precious few other fashion items are – I would equate them to a really great pair of sexy black patent heels. Mix ‘em, match ‘em, they’re always in style as long as you wear them with confidence. And with a clutch as cute as the MICHAEL Michael Kors Large Clutch, there’s no reason not own your look.

The clutch itself is pretty standard, but the texturized leather, combined with the metallic finish, makes it a bit special. If you’re looking for a great holiday clutch that can match with a variety of colors, something like this would be a great bet. It also comes in a brassy gold color, if that’s more your style, but I prefer the versatility of silver for holiday and New Year’s Eve parties. Buy through Nordstrom for $198.

Minimalism usually isn’t part of my aesthetic (my preferences usually involve finding something tacky enough to choke a horse, and then dialing it back ever-so-slightly), but I’ll admit that it has its place. And this winter, when everything is covered with detail and embellishment, it’s even kind of surprising. Doesn’t the Michael Kors Patent Woven Clutch look like a breath of fresh air?

It’s got no external hardware or obvious stitching. No studs, no zippers, no chains. And normally I like all of those things quite a bit, but when they’re all I’ve seen for two months, it’s nice to see a designer make something that feels totally current without resorting to any of those tricks.

The combination of the oversized strips of patent leather and that the edges were left raw makes this bag stand out. Since the leather is treated instead of natural, I bet it would stand up well in an environment where a lot of drinks were being consumed, and really, isn’t that a vital attribute to any evening bag? According to the description on Zappos page, the color is deep red. Personally it looks like a combination of red and purple, but I’m not really going to get hung up about that. I am sure it comes as no surprise that the faux strap and buckle with a snap button closure caught my attention. The silver-toned hardware is shiny and noticeable but this isn’t a bad thing, it works really well with this hobo. A single shoulder strap with an 8 1/2″ drop might be more comfortable in the cross of my elbow than on my shoulder, but I can work that out later. I am slightly concerned that the hardware will really weigh the bag down and for as large as this bag is, the weight of the bag after you fill it with everything you need is crucial. All in all a pretty nice bag at a reasonably price. Buy through Zappos for $352.

The MICHAEL Michael Kors Newbury Metallic Shoulder Hobo is a bag I’d love to tote during the fall months. As much as I adore rich fall tones, a metallic bag like this will without a doubt make your outfit pop. The woven geometric design does remind me a bit of the Bottega Veneta intrecciato design, but let’s be honest, no one does woven leather like BV. So, while some of you might say MK has ripped off BV, I am willing to over look it.

Surprisingly I am totally in love with the gold on gold; it is just so shiny. The over all look is chic and one that can be pulled off no matter where you live. Personally, I feel as though there are some fall bags that simply work better in cooler climates since they just go so well together with the surroundings. That same bag might not look as good carried in a hotter climate. But this hobo, it will look great no matter where you live. The single shoulder strap, top magnetic snap closure and several pocket options are all aspects that continue to make me want to sling the bag over my shoulder. What a hit! It probably stems from my love for Kors and his appearances on Project Runway – he’s an affable, fake-tanned, fabulous geigh that loves sportswear and his mommy and likes to snark on people, so of course I love him. And sometimes it’s okay to love a bag as much for the personality behind it as for the bag itself, and there’s nothing wrong with supporting someone you like. Also, I had no idea that this year was New York’s 400th anniversary, so this bag taught me some history as well! History that isn’t corroborated by Wikipedia (which doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not true, it just means I’m done looking), but whatever. If Michael Kors says that New York was founded in 1609, that’s when it was founded! Buy through Bloomingdale’s for $98.

And I’ve got to say, the choice that the Kors design team made here is flawless. The deep, eggplant-y shade of purple works beautifully with the plentiful light gold hardware, and the combination makes the bag a great all-season option. Obviously you’ll need a bag for the upcoming summer-to-fall transfer, and this looks like just about the best candidate I’ve seen thus far. And even when more fall bags come out, I still think this one will be a strong contender. Buy through Nordstrom for $498.

This double handles and goldtone hardware pair perfectly with this bag. I love the exterior pockets; it makes it easy to store something you need to get a hold of really quickly. With a large bag like this, it would be easy for the contents in the bag to fly all around. The center interior zip divider is a brilliant way to keep things where they should be. And of course, I always love a bag that catches my eye – just like this one! Buy through Bloomingdale’s for $448.

Michael Kors, like many other designers (Marc Jacobs), has a more affordable line under his main Michael Kors line. The MICHAEL by Michael Kors line offers more entry level prices on designer goods. Many times the designs seem to gear toward the 20 year old crowd (perfect for me), but either way it is still a designer good. One of my favorite aspects of the ‘more affordable’ lines sent out by designers is that many times you can nab a high end look for much less.

The MICHAEL Michael Kors Wild Venus Large Saratoga Shoulder Bag is one of the savvy bags that really excites me. Here is exactly what I love about this bag: smooth vanilla grained leather, brushed gold metal hardware, elegant look, perfect price. Seriously, this is the kind of bag that just works. The inside has woven canvas lining, and for under $400 I would not expect suede. Dimensions are not tiny, 12″ (at base)x 12″x 7″. This is a homerun for Michael Kors! Buy through eLuxury for $348.
