MICHAEL Michael Kors Large Clutch

If there’s something that I consistently love, it’s a big metallic clutch. Clutches are reasonably priced and therefore less guilt-inducing to buy, and a metallic clutch in particular is glamorous and versatile in a way that precious few other fashion items are – I would equate them to a really great pair of sexy black patent heels. Mix ‘em, match ‘em, they’re always in style as long as you wear them with confidence. And with a clutch as cute as the MICHAEL Michael Kors Large Clutch, there’s no reason not own your look.

Michael Kors Patent Woven Clutch

Minimalism usually isn’t part of my aesthetic (my preferences usually involve finding something tacky enough to choke a horse, and then dialing it back ever-so-slightly), but I’ll admit that it has its place. And this winter, when everything is covered with detail and embellishment, it’s even kind of surprising. Doesn’t the Michael Kors Patent Woven Clutch look like a breath of fresh air?

MICHAEL Michael Kors Morgen Hobo

I’ve been toting a Kooba bag lately and I’m loving it. The bag makes me happy for so many reason, but one of the reasons is definitely the color, it is this dark rich purple that is absolutely to die for. The lovely color reminded me how much I appreciate dark rich colors that are luckily everywhere you look during the fall. This all being the case, you can see why the color of the MICHAEL Michael Kors Morgen Hobo lured me in.

Now this is a metallic shoulder bag I could begin to obsess over. I know I said a little while ago that I tend to like metallic on smaller bags than on larger, but from time to time, I have no problem breaking my personal rules. Michael Kors is one who continues to impress me (both on and off of Project Runway). I love the bags and clothing he puts out. In fact, I look for his styles just about as much as I look for Marc Jacobs – and that’s saying a lot.

MICHAEL Michael Kors NYC Anniversary Tote

Admittedly, this little tote isn’t anything special. It’s a cream-colored canvas bag with a kitschy little message on it, and that’s about it. But I like the Michael Kors NYC Anniversary Tote anyway.

MICHAEL Michael Kors NYC Anniversary Tote

It probably stems from my love for Kors and his appearances on Project Runway – he’s an affable, fake-tanned, fabulous geigh that loves sportswear and his mommy and likes to snark on people, so of course I love him. And sometimes it’s okay to love a bag as much for the personality behind it as for the bag itself, and there’s nothing wrong with supporting someone you like. Also, I had no idea that this year was New York’s 400th anniversary, so this bag taught me some history as well! History that isn’t corroborated by Wikipedia (which doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not true, it just means I’m done looking), but whatever. If Michael Kors says that New York was founded in 1609, that’s when it was founded! Buy through Bloomingdale’s for $98.

MICHAEL Michael Kors Braided Shoulder ToteWe’ve covered the MICHAEL Michael Kors Braided Shoulder Tote before, but when I saw it in this absolutely gorgeous purple color, I couldn’t resist bringing it to you guys again. Structure is only half the story to a bag – color choice, and how that color interacts with the shape and hardware of the bag, is an equally essential element to any successful design.

And I’ve got to say, the choice that the Kors design team made here is flawless. The deep, eggplant-y shade of purple works beautifully with the plentiful light gold hardware, and the combination makes the bag a great all-season option. Obviously you’ll need a bag for the upcoming summer-to-fall transfer, and this looks like just about the best candidate I’ve seen thus far. And even when more fall bags come out, I still think this one will be a strong contender. Buy through Nordstrom for $498.

MICHAEL Michael Kors Beverly Metallic Drawstring Satchel Are metallic handbags making a come back? They’ve definitely been popping up more and more lately. When it comes to metallics, I am typically a bit skeptical, but recently I have been pleasantly surprised. The MICHAEL Michael Kors Beverly Metallic Large Drawstring Satchel is a metallic satchel executed perfectly.

This double handles and goldtone hardware pair perfectly with this bag. I love the exterior pockets; it makes it easy to store something you need to get a hold of really quickly. With a large bag like this, it would be easy for the contents in the bag to fly all around. The center interior zip divider is a brilliant way to keep things where they should be. And of course, I always love a bag that catches my eye – just like this one! Buy through Bloomingdale’s for $448.

MICHAEL Michael Kors Braided Shoulder Tote

mk-braided-shoulder-tote Today, since Fashion Week has messed with my normal posting schedule, I got a rare chance to go to the mall and actually see handbags in their native habitat. I’m going to be reviewing some of those bags for you guys this week while I cover the events in the tents for Purse Blog, and our first example is the MICHAEL Michael Kors Braided Shoulder Tote. I’ve liked some MICHAEL Michael Kors bags over the years, but mostly I’ve thought that the brand wasn’t giving it their best effort and often missing the mark. Well, surprise surprise. I saw this particular bag in several stores and in several colors, and I was rather pleased with both it and the other bags in the collection. The leather is very smooth but still soft, and the braided rope looped through the eyes makes it more interesting than the average black tote while still being fairly sophisticated. MK may be finally getting this whole handbag thing right. Buy through eLuxury for $498.

You know what has been most fun for me while working on Purse Blog Savvy? Trying to find great bag at incredibly low prices. And while the prices are not low to the un-handbag lovers out there, they are quite low compared to what we typically post on Purse Blog.

Michael Kors, like many other designers (Marc Jacobs), has a more affordable line under his main Michael Kors line. The MICHAEL by Michael Kors line offers more entry level prices on designer goods. Many times the designs seem to gear toward the 20 year old crowd (perfect for me), but either way it is still a designer good. One of my favorite aspects of the ‘more affordable’ lines sent out by designers is that many times you can nab a high end look for much less.

The MICHAEL Michael Kors Wild Venus Large Saratoga Shoulder Bag is one of the savvy bags that really excites me. Here is exactly what I love about this bag: smooth vanilla grained leather, brushed gold metal hardware, elegant look, perfect price. Seriously, this is the kind of bag that just works. The inside has woven canvas lining, and for under $400 I would not expect suede. Dimensions are not tiny, 12″ (at base)x 12″x 7″. This is a homerun for Michael Kors! Buy through eLuxury for $348.
