I can’t tell you for sure whether or not female alt-hip-hop artist Santigold (who spelled her name Santogold as recently as last year) had a hand in the making of this bag or if it’s even named after her, but if either of those things is true, then bravo to the Matt & Nat Santogold Bag.

I haven’t heard all that much of her work, but I do know that she’s a solo female artist doing her own thing, which is incredibly difficult in the male-dominated music industry where female solo artists are expected to look, act and sound a certain way in order to be viable artists. And not only does Santigold march to the beat of her own drummer stylistically, so does Matt & Nat.

Every now and then, we like to feel like we provide a public service here at PurseBlog. You need handbag knowledge, we have the resources to provide it.

And there’s an unending amount of handbag knowledge to be gained about the bags that the characters on Gossip Girl carry, so we thought we might drop a little on you today. It’s our job, after all.

In this week’s episode, we spotted Hilary Duff’s Olivia character carrying a bag by one of our favorites: the Rebecca Minkoff Fringe Darling Hobo. This bag is the slightly more complicated version of the lovely Rebecca Minkoff Darling Hobo, another bag that we absolutely love.

Any bag that’s carried on this show looks totally glam by association, and they do a great job of picking their wardrobe overall. But this bag is the real deal, we think. Buy through Luna Boston for $495.

Now this handbag is something I wouldn’t have expected to come from Botkier. In fact, I really had to stop and look at this bag rather closely in order to give it a fair review. Sometimes it is difficult for me to give an unbiased review when the bag seems so different, so outside of my personal realm of preference. Writing about Marc by Marc Jacobs bag is almost always very pleasant. They’re reasonably priced, made of really nice leather for their price tags, and most of the bag shapes come in enough colors that most people will be able to find one that they like.

For example, I’m not an overwhelming fan of the Marc by Marc Jacobs Pretty Nappa Lil Lissy Shoulder Bag, but I have a feeling that this sad tan of a neutral isn’t the only shade that it’s going to come in, and that sort of frees me up to think about the bag as a shape only. Which is great, because that color? Blech.

Not only has the L.A.M.B. Etoile Hobo been carried on Gossip Girl recently, but it’s also been seen on the arm of L.A.M.B. founder Gwen Stefani for months on end now. I have to say, I miss the change of seasons. More than that, I miss the glorious array of colors displayed on trees in the north during the Fall. There are so many shades of one color that I usually am at complete and total awe. Then, for some reason, these kinds of staples make me think about handbag staples.
